“Coldplay meets Tupac.” -This half-serious description, somewhat describes ippazzi as a band. They are a collaboration of a very eclectic set of influences. Most notably, ippazzi uses a singer-songwriter style in conjunction with a hip-hop/spoken word element to produce a surprisingly cohesive, fresh new sound. Greg Petronzi, began writing music in college and created the band ippazzi with friend and bassist Jeff Prystowsky. Some time later, while playing an open mic talent show at NYU, Greg met Akil Davis; a lyricist, poet, and accomplished actor. Each of them tried to win the audience over during their turn. After a back and forth dual, they decided to join forces and create music that was unlike anything else.

Playing in reputable NYC venues over the past few years (Crash Mansion, The Bitter End, The Knitting Factory, and others), ippazzi is a very strong live band. In an effort to preserve this quality, all of ippazzi’s studio recordings were done live. The most recent album was recorded and engineered by the Grammy-nominated producer Jack Gauthier, who is most famous for his work with Dispatch, Duke Robillard, and Tom Waits to name a few.
